Journey Overview
Begin with a boat journey through Rammang-Rammang, where limestone towers rise above waterways and rice fields. Continue north to Toraja for two nights at Santai Toraja Hotel.
A full day in the highlands introduces the burial sites of Lemo and Londa, the village architecture of Kete Kesu and the mountain views from Buntu Burake. Return to Makassar through Bambapuang and the coastal landscapes of South Sulawesi.
Itinerary
Day 1 — Makassar → Rammang-Rammang → Parepare → Bambapuang → Toraja
Begin at Makassar Airport or your city hotel and travel to Rammang-Rammang. Explore by traditional wooden boat, passing limestone towers, rice fields and rural settlements. Continue north through Parepare, pausing for lunch near the coast and coffee or tea overlooking Bambapuang. Arrive in Toraja and settle into Santai Toraja Hotel.
Day 2 — Toraja → Buntu Burake → Lemo → Londa → Kete Kesu → Toraja
Take in the highland views from Buntu Burake before discovering Lemo’s cliff graves and tau tau effigies. Explore the burial caves of Londa, where family traditions connect the living with their ancestors. At Kete Kesu, tongkonan houses, rice barns and intricate woodcarvings reveal the architecture and symbolism of Torajan life.
Day 3 — Toraja → Bambapuang → Kupa Beach → Makassar Airport
Leave Toraja’s highlands, pausing at Bambapuang for mountain views. Continue towards the coast for lunch at Kupa Beach Restaurant, overlooking the Makassar Strait. Your journey concludes in Makassar with a private transfer to Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport or your city hotel.
