Journey Overview
From your base in Wamena, follow trails beside the Baliem River, meet Dani communities around Jiwika and explore the valley’s markets. Mountain views from Napua and time over Papuan coffee complete a journey that balances cultural discovery with space to settle into highland life.

Itinerary
Day 1 — Wamena Airport → Wamena
Meet your private guide at Wamena Airport and transfer to your hotel. Settle in with time to adjust to the altitude. If your arrival schedule allows, a short orientation around Wamena and a leisurely coffee stop offer an introduction to the valley’s communities and traditions.
Day 2 — Wamena → Sogokmo → Kurima Area → Wamena
Walk from Sogokmo towards Kurima with your local guide, following the Baliem River through cultivated hillsides, sweet-potato gardens and Dani settlements. Cross suspension bridges where conditions allow and pause for a picnic amid the valley scenery. The route is adapted to trail conditions, weather and your pace.

Day 3 — Wamena → Jiwika → Wamena
Meet Dani hosts around Jiwika and discover honai houses, village crafts and the traditions of the northern valley. With the custodial family’s permission, learn about a preserved ancestral mummy and the heritage it represents. A hosted programme of dance, traditional skills and bakar batu hot-stone cooking may be arranged in advance with the community.
Day 4 — Wamena → Napua → Wamena
Explore Wamena’s market, where produce from surrounding villages offers a glimpse of everyday highland life. Continue to the Napua hills for views across the valley, then pause for locally grown Papuan coffee. If time allows, visit the suspension-bridge area around Wesaput or Sinakma before returning to your hotel.
Day 5 — Wamena → Wamena Airport
Your private transfer takes you to Wamena Airport for your onward flight to Jayapura.
