Journey Overview
Explore sacred springs, temple complexes and rice terraces, discovering the connections between faith, craftsmanship and daily life. Continue east through Penglipuran and Besakih to Sidemen, where village walks and weaving encounters offer a closer understanding of rural Bali.
Stay in a private pool villa at Kayumanis Ubud and a Luxury Pool Tent at The Wapa Lux Tent in Sidemen, with time to enjoy each retreat between excursions.
Itinerary
Day 1 — Ngurah Rai Airport → Ubud
Arrive in Bali and transfer privately to your villa in Ubud. As time allows, discover Balinese woodcarving or silverwork in an artisan village and explore Ubud Palace. A traditional dance performance offers an introduction to the island’s music and storytelling, subject to the evening’s schedule.
Day 2 — Ubud → Gunung Kawi → Tirta Empul → Tegallalang → Ubud
Explore Gunung Kawi in the Pakerisan Valley and the sacred springs of Tirta Empul, where your guide explains the significance of melukat, a purification ritual. Walk through Tegallalang’s rice terraces to discover how the subak irrigation system connects farming, community and faith. Return to your villa for time by the pool.
Day 3 — Ubud → Penglipuran → Besakih → Sidemen
Discover the traditional architecture and village life of Penglipuran before visiting Besakih Temple on the slopes of Mount Agung. Continue into the Sidemen Valley and settle into your Luxury Pool Tent at The Wapa Lux Tent. Enjoy the remainder of the day by your private pool, overlooking the surrounding hills.
Day 4 — Sidemen → Tenganan Pegringsingan → Depart Bali
Walk through Sidemen’s rice fields and village paths, with an opportunity to meet local weavers when arrangements allow. Continue to the Bali Aga village of Tenganan Pegringsingan to discover its traditions and distinctive geringsing double-ikat textiles. Transfer privately to the airport for your onward flight.
Visits are arranged around your departure time. An earlier flight may require a shorter programme.
